Redwood Forest, Klamath, Ca - March 31,2009

We arrived in Klamath, Ca. from Dutchercreek yesterday. What a beautiful drive up the coast with the ocean lapping on the shore. On our way we drove thru part of the redwood forest district and today we drove thru more national parks and stopped at the Big Tree (304 ft tall,21.5 ft in diameter and 1500 years old); drove thru the middle of a tree with the car; saw the corkscrew tree (shaped like a corkscrew) ;the Indian Cermonial grounds (Yurok band) and stopped at the Trees of Mystery Museum. We met Paul Bunion and his ox Babe at the museum. The redwood trees are magnificant, reaching for the sky as straight as a pin. It is well worth taking the trip up the coast just to see the wonder of the trees.

The only good thing was the prime rib at the casino for $5.99 and the baby back ribs at the Veterans of Foreign Wars. We visited Jullian while at Ramona Canyon. It is situated in the hills with a windy road to the small town. Lots of craft shops and tourist drawing exhibits. Our cat enjoyed the rocks at Ramona Canyon and looks like a cougar setting there.

We crossed the border on November 5 to meet up with Chuck and Shirley and Art and Lois to travel to Grand Canyon and on to Catalina Spa. Williams was alight for the Polar Express and everyone was dressed in their night attire for the train ride. We stayed their for three cold days taking the train to the canyons. On the returntrip we were held up by bandits which we had to pay off. We are definately looking for warmer weather now.
